Service Description
The hair lightening process is a chemical reaction that removes the natural pigment from hair to make it lighter: 1. Open the cuticle An alkaline agent, like ammonia or ethanolamine, opens the hair's cuticle, the outermost layer of the hair shaft. 2. Oxidize An oxidizing agent, like hydrogen peroxide, penetrates the hair cuticle and breaks down the melanin, the natural pigment that gives hair its color. 3. Lighten As the melanin breaks down, the hair becomes lighter. The longer the bleach is left on, the more pigment is removed. The result of the lightening process depends on the type and condition of your hair, the product used, and how long the product is left on. For example, hair with existing blonde tones can more easily lighten to platinum, while darker hair may appear yellow or reddish after the first application. The hair also becomes more porous with each lightening, so it may become too weak to lighten further.
